Ashlee’s Fridge

My name is Ashlee and this is my fridge. It’s located in Ames, Iowa, United States. Though it may not seem like an “everyday item”, I face a daily battle of keeping my kitten, Darwin, and his sister, Tesla, out of the fridge. In this picture, Darwin has found a new, even more fun place to be in the fridge; he’s just the right size for a soda can box. He’s been distraught lately as I’ve stopped drinking soda so he’s lost that hiding place. As for the food there are left overs, lots! of soda, whole milk, juice, cottage cheese, butter, parsley, spinach, and a wonderful wasabi mayo sauce from a Rachel Ray cookbook.

I travel a lot for work and just bought groceries for the first time in three weeks. My fridge is stocked with the same basics every time I go shopping: hummus, vegetables, fruit, fish, cottage cheese, and my lunchbox. Aldi store brands as far as the eye can see! :)

Christina’s Fridge

These pictures were taken a few hours before Superbowl 2011. We had a lot of food we don’t normally eat in the refrigerator (we were expecting 12-15 people for the game!), but I thought that some of the products were interesting! As far as the food goes, I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend is not. This means that we have a combination of omnivore/herbivore fare.
To be more specific about what our refrigerator contains:
-We always have fresh vegetables (the fruit is kept out of the refrigerator or in the refrigerator downstairs) and lots of condiments.
-Fat free, skim milk only

-Different kinds of cheeses (we like to try new varieties)
-The outside of the refrigerator NEVER has anything on it. I hate magnets/stickers/notes on refrigerators).
-Foods that are in the refrigerator now that are not normally: Hash browns, frozen meatballs, French onion dip, Packaged curly fries, Sweetened condensed milk (for making snow cream), 2 packages of tortillas, prepackaged cheese, kosher hot dogs,
-In the Tupperware containers: Mushroom pieces, asparagus (cooked), Vegan “sloppy joe” mix, marinated cucumber salad, pitted black olives, roasted red peppers
-Specialty items we love (in the pictures): Jalapeño Artichoke Dip, V8 Fusion Light Peach Mango, Sweet Onion Marinade, Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce, Homemade Apple Butter, Homemade Pear Honey, Bagel Thins Everything Bagels
