I’m quite proud of this fridge, owned by me, my mum and dad and my big bro Dom (Phil).
It may not have much substance to it (and too many milk bottles) but I love it all the same, and there are not many unhealthy items in there which is somewhat surprising. We have my dad mostly to thank for what it is there, with a bit of help from my mum and I as well. Dom does NOTHING.But eats it all the same. Ah well, it still rocks.

Your site is ace! I love it when you find a friendly site with character. I know exactly what you mean; when you go to petrol stations and other mundane places in other countires it’s dead exciting cos everything’s different. It’s the font and the colours and also because sometimes a country looks ‘retro’ because they use graphics and fonts that we consider ‘old-fashioned’. Sometimes I walk ‘round UK supermarkets and try to imagine what they’d look ike in Chinese or Spanish or whatever. The only thing about my local Tesco that I like is the automated message, ‘There’s a caller at the back gate, please attend…’ Nobody else ever seems to find that funny. I always hope there’s a delivery so I can have a little chuckle! People should smile more when they go shopping. I wonder if supermarkets are more friendly in other countries or if they’re so evil and corporate? I think it helps that I teach English to refugees and asylum seekers, but the differences in cultures that we don’t really hear about are wonderfully exciting. 10/10 to you!

On the front - various assorted magnets collected over the years and the odd out of date receipt. I don’t carry a lot in it most of the time. Just a few essentials - milk, spread, some aged apples, some jars of home made chutney and jam from a coffee morning that I never went to, a bottle of ghastly orange coloured squash that I won’t drink (won at a school fair - full of sweeteners which I loathe), the tail end of a bag of sultanas, some lemon barley water I might drink and a nice bit of strong cheese. That thing lurking in the bottom is some smelly cat food. Since these photos I’ve stocked up a little, some more apples and a few cartons of fruit juice. The freezer is a bit better stocked and has just had a real treat - it was defrosted recently for the first time (in approximately six years). The top shelf was the original ice cave. The door of the top shelf is missing, having turned brittle and snapped off its hinges ages ago. My fridge is located in an alcove just outside my kitchen door (the kitchen being micro-small). In the picture of the freezer, to the bottom left, you can see an odd electrical arrangement. The fridge is run on an extension lead which goes under the floorboards and is plugged into a socket in the bedroom. Being so close to the bedroom door it soothes me to sleep each night with its humming lullaby and shines out a comforting night light with its tiny green light. Oh the joys of living in a flat and having one’s domestic appliances close at hand!

Don’t let Al Gore know, but we are actually a two fridge family. Fridge number one is a built-in, under work surface number we had fitted when we recently had the kitchen done. That leaves us with our old fridge/freezer in the utility room. The kitchen fridge has some veggies on the ground floor, some condiments on the second (the white carton is a tub of jalfrezi sauce) and on the top a few odds and sods. In the door, some cheddar, milk and juice for the kids. Fridge number Two is the overflow, combining lager (Kronenburg), white wine, cake and a couple of Marks and Spencer ready meals for supper tonight. If there’s a nuclear strike, I’ll be bedding down in the vicinity of Number Two (There’s also a pack of Nicorette chewing gum in the door left by a friend whilst visiting during a rare hot spell in the summer - he preferred them chilled).
