1) This Fridge is from Andros Island, The Bahamas.
Geology Research Station Fridge from Bahamas.
Here are some pictures from a fridge in our research “cabin” during a week doing geological research in the Bahamas on Andros Island. Andros is not a tourist area and local provisions were scarce. The five of us truly lived the week on pasta, beer, water, apples, and jam on bread with occasional stops at a little cafe. The beer featured, Kahlik, is the local beer. The bread, made fresh locally and which we bought everyday, had the sweetest flavor to it that I’ll always remember.

2) This Fridge is from Wyoming, USA.
Geology Research Station Fridge from Wyoming.
The second fridge is from a geology research station in Wyoming. There were 15 people sharing this fridge for 7 weeks. I like that the only food you can see are pickles and once again, apples. I think this illustrates well the sad cliche that geologists are “alcoholics with a rock problem.”

Looks like a nice balance between food and alcohol when away from home to me.

I like tramping and tend to carry a decent amount of alcohol with me as well :-)

  2. This is an awesome fridge…..dude….drink on….bahama mama

  3. That’s HILARIOUS!!! “Alcoholics with a rock problem” indeed! Looks like the typical fridge when we go for a vacation to the cottage here in Canada, except for the apples. There’s not enough room for the beer in our cottage fridges, much less apples. :)
